Training and Support
The New FirstSearch-28th September and 29th November
OCLC Europe, the Middle East & Africa
Following the migration of all FirstSearch customers to the new FirstSearch,
here is another opportunity for you to become familiar with the new
interface and features.
While primarily aimed at existing users, the workshop will also be useful
for librarians
currently using the service on a trial basis or for those who used the
service through
the old interface and wish to receive an update.
The workshop falls naturally into two halves. The morning provides an
introduction to the new FirstSearch interface and functions and includes an
opportunity for hands-on practice. The afternoon focuses on the FirstSearch
administrative module and online usage statistics; two tools that help you
to customise and control your FirstSearch account. You may attend either or
both halves of the workshop.
A combination of presentations, demonstrations and hands-on practice will be
used.

The new FirstSearch continues to be a Web-based online reference service
providing access to over 80 databases and more than 6 million full-text
articles in a variety of subject areas. In addition, new FirstSearch
provides integrated access to full-image articles from over 2,500 electronic
journal titles included in our Electronic Collections Online service.
As a single source for bibliographic, full-text and full-image resources
linked to an international resource-sharing network, new FirstSearch helps
