1. New licence for Grove Online products
----------------------------------------
The new licence form for sites to subscribe to any or all of the
Grove Dictionaries of Art, Opera and Music Online is now available
at http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/grove/
This licence form (in .rtf format) should be downloaded and when
completed sent directly to Macmillan (address on form)
2. PsycINFO update
--------------------
Pricing for HE access to PsycINFO data has been published and the
licence agreement with APA was signed earlier this month.
Currently CHEST is trying to resolve the final detail with the
service providers (Ovid and Silver Platter) in the matter of from
where the service will come from and other such outstanding
details.
3. BIDS ISI Closure
-------------------
Licensed Institutions are reminded that the BIDS ISI Service will end on
31st July 2000. Therefore Institutions should ensure that all users have
been converted to the ISI Web of Science service, available from MIMAS,
to prevent problems on 31st July 2000.
4. Feedback request for ISI CCC Pricing
---------------------------------------
Further to the message sent in CHEST Data Messenger 174
reminding Sites of the pricing for additional products, CHEST
would be grateful for any feedback from Sites about the pricing
for Current Contents Connect.
Please e-mail [log in to unmask] with the subject line of
"ISI CCC" with comments about the pricing and likelihood of
subscribing.
5. OCLC services to be unavailable Aug.6-7
------------------------------------------
CHEST has received the following message from OCLC:
"All OCLC online services will be unavailable from 7 a.m. (British
Summer Time), Sunday, Aug. 6, until approximately 9 a.m., Monday,
Aug. 7, during a planned power shutdown.
The 26-hour shutdown is necessary for the installation of a new
power system in the building which houses OCLC's data centre and
telecommunications facility. The ultimate goal of this upgrade is
to reduce the need for such shutdowns in the future.
We expect access to online services to be restored by 7am on
Monday Aug. 7, however there is a 2 hour contingency period in the
event of any unforeseen happening."
6. Gale Information
--------------------
Further to the messages that have been sent recently about the
three products offered by Gale (TLS, BRC and LRC), CHEST wishes to
inform Sites that the offer and pricing detailed previously has
now been withdrawn as we did not reach the number of Sites needed
for an Agreement to commence in September 2000.
