Visit to the Bodleian Library, Oxford
Thursday 29 June
11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m.
The Bodleian Library is one of the great libraries of the UK, serving as the
main research library for the University of Oxford, and holding collections
used by scholars from around the world.
Located in the heart of central Oxford, Bodley has many distinguished
buildings, including Duke Humfrey's Library above the Divinity School, the
Old Schools Quadrangle with its Great Gate and Tower, the Radcliffe Camera,
Britain's first circular library, and the Clarendon Building, as well as
many runs of subterranean stacks.
Our tour guides will be one current and one retired member of the Library's
staff, so you should get an interesting insight into the workings of the
library. There will be no charge for the visit, but you are required to
make your own way there. Please meet outside the Bodleian Admissions
Office in the Old Schools Quadrangle at 10.50am.
