EDINA is pleased to announce the addition of CSA's social sciences
databases to its bibliographic collection. These services are offered to
UK and Irish HE and FE institutions and Research Councils for
subscription from August 1st 2000 to July 31st 2002 under a special
agreement.
Summary information about each database is given below.

As with most EDINA services, access to the three new services is via
personal or shared Athens accounts, and sites wishing to subscribe to
these services must first be registered to use the Athens registration and
authentication system. Refer to http://www.athens.ac.uk/ for details.
The interface is CSA's own award-winning Internet Database Service which
includes features such as cross-database searching and links-to-holdings
and full-text.

Sociological Abstracts (1963 to Present)
Social Service Abstracts (1980 to Present)
Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts (1973 to Present)
ERIC (1966 to Present) and Social Services Abstracts are offered on a
complimentary basis to Sociological Abstracts subscribers.
The offers include access to the Web Resources and Recent
References databases for the social sciences for all subscribers.
SOCIOLOGICAL ABSTRACTS
Sociological Abstracts is the pre-eminent resource for accessing the
research literature in sociology and related disciplines in the social
and behavioural sciences. The database covers articles relevant to
sociology and related disciplines such as anthropology, economics,
education, health and medicine, social psychology, and much more.
Sociological Abstracts also contains the Social Planning/Policy &
Development Abstracts (SOPODA) database in its entirety.
Sources: Over 2,600 journals and other serial publications are
abstracted, as well as conference papers, books and dissertations.
Size: Over 580,000 records; Updates: Bimonthly.
Approximately 36,000 new records added per year.

SOCIAL SERVICES ABSTRACTS
Social Services Abstracts provides bibliographic coverage of current
research focused on social work, human services, and related areas,
including social welfare, social policy, and community development.
Sources: 1535 serials are currently monitored for inclusion.
In addition, information gathered from books, monographs,
dissertations and bibliographies are included in the database.
Size: Over 70,000 records; Updates: Monthly.
Approximately 4,000 new records added per year.

LINGUISTICS AND LANGUAGE BEHAVIOR ABSTRACTS
Linguistics and Language Behavior Abstracts assists both generalists
and specialists in keeping abreast of cutting-edge developments in
disciplines concerned with the nature and use of language. The database
covers all aspects of the study of language including phonetics,
phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. Complete coverage is also
given to various fields of linguistics including descriptive,
historical, comparative, theoretical and geographical linguistics.
Sources: Over 1,200 journals are scanned for inclusion.
Size: Over 270,000 records. Updates: Monthly.
Approximately 17,000 new records added per year.
