Pertinent point! I know for a fact that most people figure that if you work
in a library, you are, as a result, a librarian. This happened in one of the
academic libraries I worked in. The cleaner of the library (not a job I'd
fancy, as students tend to be a littering bunch!)kept getting reference
queries from students. Certainly training levels and salaries of all library
workers should come into this discussion. We're supposed to work as a team,
and those closer to management have a duty to put forward the views of those
who don't have the opportunity to do so themselves. But are we aware of what
those opinions are?
