A new "mailbase" has just been established for those with an interest in
analysing British Crime Survey data. Various files have been posted up at
the mailbase, including a copy of the latest version of the British Crime
Survey Questionnaire and the training notes for the BCS training days. It is
envisaged that the mailbase will provide a useful forum for BCS users. RDS
will also use the mailbase in the consultation process on the content of the
survey.
>From 2001 the number of respondents in the BCS will be roughly doubling to
40,000 per year and the survey will move to an annual cycle. It is
anticipated that the survey will become an increasingly important resource
for answering questions about people's experience of crime and the steps
that can be taken to reduce crime.
If you would like to joining this mailbase you should email the following
address. :

The mailbase is restricted to students and bona fide researchers (there are
concerns on giving respondents and their associates access to the
questionnaire). In your email could you please describe who you are and why
you wish to joing the mailbase.
