Looking at conviction data

4th-6th April 2000
The Institute of Criminology, Cambridge in collaboration with the Centre for
Applied Statistics, Lancaster, is running a series of events in April at
Cambridge aimed at evaluators and other researchers involved in conviction
studies using the Offenders Index, PNC data and other official data
sources. The events are sponsored by the Economic and Social Research
Council's Analysis of Large and Complex Datasets initiative and the
National Probation Research &
Information Exchange (NPRIE).
The events are:
A short course: Getting to Grips with Conviction Data 4th / 5th April, 2000
To introduce participants to the methods needed for evaluators to use
reconviction as an outcome for evaluation studies. Excel, SPSS and Applied
Statistics training.
A Symposium: Conviction Information Symposium 2000 6th April, 2000
Research and ideas sharing in relation to the Offenders Index and the
Police National Computer database.
