A colleague working on Gide asked me to track down any other examples of the
word "buciloque", as in:
Il écrivait, attentif si uniquement à la dictée d'une inspiration si
pressante que l'autre devant lui aurait pu faire la BUCILOQUE sans qu'il le
vît.
He comments:
"le sens, d'après les premiers manuscrits et les explications données par
Gide à sa traductrice, est : faire une cabriole".
Gide uses the word only once. I found no occurrences in my corpus, and none
on the web either.
Does anyone have any other examples, or information about the origin of the
word?
