Does anyone happen to know if there exists a dictionary of
the pronunciation of French proper names? Le Petit Robert
des Noms Propres does give 'unexpected' pronunciations, but
the scope is limited to very well known persons or places,
and I'm wondering if there is a volume that gives a much
more comprehensive list.
Our Librarian tells me of a book published by Larousse in
1996: Francois Demay 'Dictionnaire des noms propres: 18000
articles complets'. Is this, like the PR, restricted to
very well known names, and does it give pronunciation?
Many thanks
Aidan
