We've just moved our undergraduate prospectus to a database system (just
straightforward flat text/cgi combo) and as I speak a small army of students
are doing the data entry for the postgrad and part time.
The database works in two stages - first you choose a subject
area/school/keyword and get a short paragraph about each course - when you
have read that and find the course you are interested in you can click a
link to get the full course description.
The course description uses a template to display the info from the database
(including an appropriate image on each page). We're now working on
establishing the third database which will allow you to click on any
individual unit within a course and get a description of it/further
info/reading list etc.
Have a look at http://www.shu.ac.uk/prospectus/ug
