I'm having a few cgi problems - something, hopefully, that somebody else has
overcome in the past...
We are using simple flat text databases to provide information for some of
our course information and events pages. We have two cgi scripts, one
searches for the appropriate information and places it in a HTML template.
The other is our data entry system - it takes the values entered in an HTML
form and adds them to the database. It can also put the values back into a
form to allow us to edit them and then re-submit.
This is where the problem is - we want to put links in the text held on one
of the databases, when the text is put into the form the <a
href="xxx.html>blah blah</a> is accepted quite happily and appears correctly
on the finished page. However if you then update the record (ie load the
data into the form) that field stops abruptly at <a href=
I've tried escaping the quote and replacing it with " but the problem
still arises - it seems that as the script puts the data into the form it
assumes that the quote indicates the end of the field.
Any suggestions? - feel free to e-mail me directly.
