VIRTUAL OPEN COLLEGE PROJECT OFFICER, Edge Hill Enterprises

£18,289 - £19,017 pa

37 hours per week

Fixed Term for 12 months

This is a key role in a Web development project, with the aim of creating Learning for Life Gateways at our partner colleges. Based in the
Business and Network Systems Department, Ormskirk, and responsible to the Web Development Officer, you will investigate and deliver an
on-line framework for the delivery of course content via the World Wide Web. The model you produce is required to interface with an on-line
accreditation module being developed at Blackburn College. You will also have the opportunity to design and produce Web and Intranet pages
to support the project and update Edge Hill and Intranet sites. Other duties will include the production of management reports, evaluation reports,
systems analysis, systems specifications and proposals.

Educated to degree level, you will have at least one year's experience in the development of WWW applications. You will have either the ability
to write complex, accurate HTML using a text editor or the ability to use a graphical Web development package, such as HoTMetaL Pro or
Dreamweaver, and edit the HTML it produces using a text editor. You will also have electronic graphic design / publishing experience and have
used Photoshop or Paintshop Pro to manipulate images for the Web. In addition, you will know 4 or more of the following: UNIX/LINUX,
JavaScript, Java, PERL, Web server administration and FTP. Knowledge or experience of WebCT would be desirable. Excellent
communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and to tight deadlines is essential. Above all, if you're interested in IT, this is the ideal
opportunity to develop your skills.
