Dear Eraldo,
I hope you don't mind, I have cc'ed this message to the SPM list, in case
anyone has tried to get SPM working on the Mac out there.
Thanks a lot for your mail. I agree, it sounds as though the Mac G4 would be a
great platform for SPM. There are two problems. The first is that Mathworks
has given up developing matlab for the Mac, as of version 5.2 (so no version
5.3 etc). Maybe they will change their minds about this, who knows. At the
moment, SPM works with Matlab 5.2, but this might change in the future.
The second is that the c code, and to a lesser extent the matlab code, would
need some changes. In the case of the c directory listing code, this might be
extensive, but is only one routine (spm_list_files.c). There is already some
structure for including platform dependent code in the spm distribution, as the
Andrew Holmes, John Ashburner and I had to work this out for the PC. So: if
you could find a Mac programmer out there somewhere, it wouldn't be too hard to
do, I imagine.
I would be happy to help, if you want to try, but I don't know anything about
Mac programming.
Someone was mailing me about this awhile ago, Christina Fales,
<[log in to unmask]>; Christina - did you get anywhere?
So, possible, but not trivial, as far as I know noone has done it yet.
Good luck,
Matthew
