Hi everyone.
Pete Varley asks for suggestions of facilitation skills texts - I can
recommend "Effective Leadership in Adventure Programming" by Priest and
Gass - this has a couple of chapters on facilitation, and seems to cover the
ground pretty thoroughly. For a more theoretical approach to facilitation
(and not specifically aimed at outdoor programmes) try the "Complete
Facilitator's Handbook" by John Heron.
I also have a request to make. In a couple of weeks, I will be delivering a
couiple of seminare on "Risk in Outdoor Recreation / Outdoor Activity
Management" to (respectively) 1st year and 3rd year undergraduate
students. I already have quite a lot of material, but if anyone has any
anecdotes or statistics that I could make use of, I would be most grateful.
Regards
Toby Rhodes
