Time and frequency: spectroscopy and dynamics

A joint conference of the High Resolution Spectroscopy and Molecular
Beams and Dynamics groups of the Royal Society of Chemistry

University of Bristol, December 18-20, 2000

The High Resolution Spectroscopy Group of the Royal Society of Chemistry
is this year joining forces with the Molecular Beams and Dynamics Group
to host a joint conference covering topics of common interest.

The conference will begin on the evening of Monday 18th December with
two 'tutorial' lectures aimed primarily at graduate students. This year
our guest speakers and their talks are:

Professor Richard Dixon, University of Bristol
"Time and frequency in spectroscopy - from bound states to dynamics"

Professor Klaus Muller-Dethlefs, University of York
"Principles and applications of ZEKE spectroscopy"

On Tuesday and Wednesday the meeting will take the more conventional
form with invited lectures together with oral and poster contributions.
The meeting will finish on Wednesday afternoon. The following have
accepted invitations to give lectures:

Professor Gerard Meijer, University of Nijmegen
"Infrared spectroscopic studies on PAH cations and metal carbide
clusters"

Professor Gustav Gerber, University of Wurzburg
"Adaptive femtosecond pulse shaping and control of molecular
femtochemistry"

Dr Katharine Reid, University of Nottingham
"Photoelectron angular distributions as a probe of dynamical processes"

Graduate students and postdocs are strongly encouraged to submit titles
for presentations, particularly for the shorter oral contributions. The
organisers will do their best to ensure as many as possible are
incorporated into the conference programme.

The conference will be held at Clifton Hill House, located in the centre
of Bristol. For up to date information, including local maps and travel
suggestions, please see http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/pt/hrsg. If you would
like to attend the meeting please complete the attached registration
form and return it to Mrs Sue Williams at the address below no later
than Wednesday 15th November.
