As Rob Vernon pointed out in his message of 15/9/00, advance warning of
conferences is appreciated. Here are a few for your diaries -
Idrija, Slovenia, August/September 2002 - 6th International Symposium,
Cultural Heritage in Geosciences, Mining and Metallurgy - the theme of which
is 'Hygiene, occupational health and sociability in mining history'. The
symposium is sponsored by the Idrija Municipal Museum (who provide the venue
in the 16th C. Gewerkenegg Castle) and Idrija Mercury Mine. There are two
contacts for further details - Tatjana Dizdarevic
<[log in to unmask]> and Martina Pisljar <[log in to unmask]>
Japan, 2003 - 6th International Mining History Congress. A meeting held at
the 5th IMHC, on Milos 13/9/00, accepted an offer from the Japanese to host
the 6th IMHC. The venue and exact dates are subject to confirmation.
Canada (Vancouver, BC.) 2006 - 7th International Mining History Congress.
Again this is subject to confirmation, but the IMHC meeting on Milos also
accepted an offer to examine the options available for holding the Congress
in Vancouver in 2006.
