Bernard, etc
My copy of Alwyn Annels' excellent book on the subject (fine man, he had the
dubious pleasure of trying to lecture me in Mining Geology about 20 years
ago), gives Roman Deep Holdings Ltd as the parent company which owned Ogofau
from 1935, latterly through a subsidiary: British Goldfields (No.1) Ltd.
Roman Deep Holdings Ltd seems to have been a reconstruction of Roman Deep
Ltd of 1933.
Incidentally, I wish a few more of those who write "Mining History" books
looked at this one - its really a lesson in how to do it - in sharp contrast
to some of the shallow efforts seen recently.
I was a tourist guide here for part of two summers: 1981 (first season it
was open) and 1982 - good memories.
The mineral rights are currently held by Anglesey Mining plc.
Did I miss the start of this thread?
