Dear Peter,
As a follow-up to my last to you on the matter of the above, I would be
pleased to copy to you anything that I considered to be of archive worth -
proper, open, principled, & honest data exchange is what this mailbase is
supposed to be what it was set up for in the first place? - Peter Claughton
et al had a brilliant idea in it's formation, & I am certain that these
principals formed part of the reason for forming same. As an addendum to this
matter, you are also right: I see personally no problem with anything that is
posted on the base, whether books that are on offer, or even indeed if I am
promoting my hotel to base members - I take the liberty of saying here, if
anybody wishes accommodation in the Lake District from now to the end of Feb.
please contact me, and you shall receive v.special rates! - QED!!!!!!
Everybody is looking for a good deal these days, and if someone on the base
can benefit as a result, great. General 'personal' chit-chat as you say, yes,
can be very irritating & completely unnecessary, but if anybody has something
to offer, lets' know about it, keep it coming, we all want to know! But, at
the same time, the facility must not be misused, but used with discretion &
consideration: There is selling and blatant selling - the latter is not
acceptable to us all I am sure.
Kind Regards, Bernard.
