Continuing with a sense of mischief - the student mining competitions
which are run every year have included women teams for some time, I
remember the first one we ran in Rolla, some years ago. As I recall
our women went before one of the leading Western schools who were
reputed to be better with the jackleg - our women won.
Not to get too vain about this the next time it was in Rolla several
teams came from Brisbane. Their women were much faster - and I
believe it transpired that in Australia they train and compete
without the jackleg to support the drill during the competition.
