A PhD student, Maggie Smith, is in the early stages of data collection on
"The childbearing experiences of women who have suffered sexual
abuse." Sadly, Maggie is now very ill.
At Maggie’s suggestion, I am seeking a midwife to undertake this project
with her support and under my supervision. This is a challenging and
highly sensitive area of research. The researcher would need a geniune
and sustaining interest in the subject and its implications for midwifery,
considerable sensitivity and skill in interviewing and good personal
support.
For the right person, this would be an opportunity to study for an
MPhil/PhD with much of the introductory work with individuals and
support groups already done. They would gain much from Maggie's
subject knowledge and insight and from the other researchers within the
WICH research group.
A small research bursary may be possible. This research could be done
on a full time or part time basis.
There is some urgency about finding the right researcher.
Please contact me for further details.
Best wishes
