Hello Vivienne,
depending on the subjects you are interested in you may find some of the
following useful:
NETSKILLS , http://www.netskills.ac.uk/ , based at the University of
Newcastle as it's name suggests, supplies Internet tutorials in a variety of
formats.
The IT Resource Guide for 'not-for-profis' may be worth a look:
http://www.itforcharities.co.uk/
If you are more interested in using IT as a tool for teaching other subjects,
then the CHEST http://www.chest.ac.uk/ site may be useful
Also the CTI Web site:
http://www.cti.ac.uk/starters.html
may be more useful. This grew out of a 'Computers in Learning' ARIADNE
project (see http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue5/cti/ for background to this
project, or http://www.cti.ac.uk/info/ for a more up to date version)
An Index of participants by subjects covered can be found at:
http://www.cti.ac.uk/centres/index.html
(Although this project is targeted at Higher Education I expect it may also
be useful in Further Education)
The Institute for Computer Based Learning:
http://www.icbl.hw.ac.uk/ ,
part of the Learning Technology Centre:
http://www.ltc.hw.ac.uk/ at Heriot Watt University may also be relevant
Subject Guides to Internet resources can also be a useful
teaching/learning resource. The Resource Discovery Network:
http://www.rdn.ac.uk/about.html is an example of this, although more
focussed, customised guides may be more helpful.
The 'NODE Learning Technologies Network' :
http://node.on.ca/ is Canadian based, but may possibly be of
interest. They describe themselves as:
"The NODE Learning Technologies Network is a not-for-profit electronic
network facilitating information and resource-sharing, collaboration and
research in the field of learning technologies for postsecondary education
and training.
The functions of the NODE are to gather and disseminate information in
areas of need; to offer professional development activities; to facilitate
collaboration among universities and colleges; and to commission projects and
research in issues and practices in technologically-mediated teaching and
learning. "
Hope some of this is relevant
Good wishes
Dot Duckworth
