A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A LIBRARIAN
Wednesday 25 October 2000
University of London Library
London, WC1
Following the success of earlier seminars, this
programme provides an opportunity for those who
work in publishing, subscription agencies and
elsewhere in the information chain to hear about
the management and use of serials by information
professionals in four very different workplace
environments. From academia to manufacturing,
four librarians discuss the factors that influence
their financial choices; the impact of electronic
media on service delivery and collection economics;
whether serials are value for money in information terms;
their expectations of publishers and intermediaries in
the serials chain, and the developing role of librarians
themselves.
The afternoon session includes a workshop for informal
discussion of the issues raised, and a tour of the
University of London Library.
The seminar will be chaired by Caroline Moss-Gibbons,
Head of Library and Information Services at the Royal
College of Physicians, and member of the UKSG Education
Group.
