I have received the following request for information from Penny Woods of
the library at Maynooth College, near Dublin. Any assistance, which might
be sent over this list or direct to her, will be gratefully received.
Keith Manley,
Editor, `Library History'
We have the problem of a fine Pugin library which combines vast room
height and severe winter cold. Are you aware of any other heritage library
which has a similar problem and which may have come up with an interesting
solution? I would prefer not to move the readers elsewhere, I think it's
important that the library should continue to be used - it has a wonderful
atmosphere!
PS Do you know of any fund which would assist in the restoration of one of
Pugin's finest works? (Many of his interiors have been effaced, this is one
of the few which has remained virtually unchanged) [Hopeful!]
