<< You are urged to nominate your favourite school library home page or Web
site for the July IASL/Concord School Library Home Page of the Month
Award.
You will find information about the award on the IASL Web site, "School
Libraries Online", at http://www.iasl-slo.org/ -- click on the
IASL/ConcordSchool Library Home Page Award logo on the home page. You will
find information about nominating, the criteria for selection, and links
to the Web sites of previous winners.
You can send your nomination (with URL, name of the site, and a sentence
or two about your reasons for making the nomination) to me
([log in to unmask]) or to any member of the Selection Committee (see the IASL
Web site for contact information).
On a related matter -- the June 2000 issue of the magazine "School Library
Journal" has a short article by Walter Minkel, "'Tis a gift to be
simple: Designing a library Web site that makes sense". If you are
thinking about developing a Web presence for your school library, this
would be a good place to start reading. It says, among other things, "Be
simple and clear: 90 percent of site visitors will spend 90 seconds or
less looking at your page. Be brief and organised." (page 29).
