I would like to post the following information concerning an available PhD
studentship at The School of Management, UMIST.
The School of Management, UMIST currently has a 3-year EPSRC PhD studentship
available in the Marketing Group. The research is in the area of
attribution style and its effects on the success versus failure of new
products. Prior research has shown that for those situations that require
continued persistence in the face of failure, an optimistic attribution
style is very significantly associated with high levels of productivity,
innovation, and general success in life. We are interested to know how
team-based dynamics affect the optimism of new product development teams,
and what effect (if any) team-based optimism might have on the consequent
success versus failure of new products produced by firms.
