Research Scientist
GIS Application Development
The N.J. State Department of Health and Senior Services is seeking an
individual to support the design and implementation of GIS applications
dealing with prostate cancer. The applications will identify and assess
geographic/demographic attributes that influence late stage prostate
cancer
mortality and the utilization of prostate cancer screening facilities.
Applications will be designed as an integrated GIS, statistical and data
software for distribution by CDROM technology.
Requires a Master's degree in a discipline appropriate to the position,
and
three years of experience in the use and customization of ESRI GIS
software, including ArcView GIS, ArcExplorer, and MapObjects; MS-Access
database design/implementation in conjunction with GIS application
development involving various data sets, including geographic, health,
environmental, and census data; integrating GIS and spatial statistics
software; and writing software user manuals, metadata and detailed project
documentation. Skills with and knowledge of GIS principles, experience
with development of Graphical User Interfaces to support GIS applications;
and ArcIMS experience is valuable. A Doctorate in an appropriate
discipline may substitute for two years of experience.
Salary range: $49,135 - $56,097. Comprehensive benefits package.
