Here is an update on the availability postings issue. Since I wrote to the
list about 8 list members (out of 1200) took the trouble to email me and say
that they preferred such listings not to appear on this list. Nobody emailed
to say that they wanted listings and nobody said that such an announcement
had got them a job.
I am prepared to tolerate availability postings - but only if they are less
than 5 lines long and include no attachments. If these get out of hand, or
these rules are broken, as they have been recently, I will ban them and I
may even moderate the list for a short period to prevent them from being
re-posted to the whole list - this will have the disadvantage that genuine
job adverts may be delayed, so I don't want to do it!
I am grateful to those who took the trouble to email to me and I am also
grateful for the many words of encouragement I get from users of this
service. To the best of my knowledge it is the only service that is free
both to job seekers and employers and I know that many positions have been
filled form the list over the years.
With best wishes
