Dear Colleague,
Please could I draw your attention to the following symposium for the EUG
XI which will be held in Strasbourg, France (8th - 12th April 2001)?
Abstracts must be submitted via the WWW by 1 December 2000 (there is a fee
of 300FF for abstract submission).
For further information, please see the web page for this conference
(http://eost.u-strasbg.fr/EUG/EUG11.html). If you have not received a second
circular, please visit the Website for all information.

A7: Mechanisms of fluid flow in metamorphic and igneous environments
Convenors: Marian Holness (Cambridge) [log in to unmask],
The movement of fluid through rock has important consequences for mass chemical
differentiation throughout the Earth. The impact of fluid flow, much of recent
research in igneous and metamorphic petrology has focussed on the signature
left by the movement of a fluid phase in its source region and the rocks
through which it passes. The means by which such movement occurs is not fully
understood but involves a combination of fracturing, surface energy-controlled
permeability and reactive effects such as dissolution. We invite
contributions to this multi-disciplinary symposium from all in the
petrological community
interested in the grainscale to km-scale permeability of rocks at high
temperatures.
