I notice that no-one has picked up on the Lilith story so far. Since it
is definitely nowhere in the Bible, it would be very interesting to find
out where it comes from. The only place I have ever read it was in
Goethe's Faust. Any idea, anyone?
Loretta, the knowledge supposed to be gained by Adam and Eve
was not carnal knowledge. "You will be like God, knowing good
and evil", says the snake. And the punishment for their hubris is to
all three of them: work becomes a burden for man, childbirth
becomes painful for the woman, and the snake is condemned to
crawl on his belly and eat dust forever.
