So what do you mean by the truth? Is this your truth and how does it relate
to the true?
What is meant by this? Do you have previleged access to the truth that we
'serfs' innnocent of the facts somehow lack?
>I treat him as my intellectual equal

Now that is audacious. Unless you walk have walked in the mocassins of the
other person, then you should have no reason to respect an older person as
an intellectual equal.

But wait a minute. Did not Jim just say that he thought Rays' comments to
him were 'snide'? earlier in the day or last night?
He is embarrassed by his outburst of anger that resulted in his unfair
comment about Ray. I think Ray is very smart, wise actually.
So Ray is supposed to be treated as an intellectual 'equal' but in the
crunch Jim forgets his equal and gets angry because some students have
muddled thinking Interesting conflation of things that bug him. Does an
intellectual equal make snide comments? Of course not, this was only Jim's
understanding. There is no reason for anger except to cover up an underlying
fear. Anger is a response to fear. And anger that lasts long enough is
transformed into hate (aversion). It is becoming apparent thus that this
'eruption' of anger in Jim is not focussed on other persons, but rather on
something else. He admits some equality in principle to Ray, but on the
other hand is angered easily enough to exclaim that Ray is being snide.
Well. Is this a case of being 'puffed-up' or what. Dictatorial teaching and
instilling of values is not teaching but is ranting. Who but the wind would
listen to this fury and sound?
