I do indeed recall picking up some of those booklets at Home Depot in
Miami....interesting stuff. It's unfortunate, albeit hardly surprising,
that the trickle-down effect within the Jeb Bush administration has so
undermined your efforts there.
I have gotten in touch with Teri Valente about the HS eco-ethics workbook
and she has promised to put one in the mail for me.
Again my thanks,
jeri

Subject: RE: bio & a question about a book
I worked for the Department of Environmental Protection as the director of
EE. I retired in early 1998. Six years earlier, I began a program called
Environmental Citizenship, as part of our ecosystem management program (now
defunct under the state's new "management") and prepared a fair amount of
material for adults and schools.
A lot of it was "how to" -- "Ecosystem Management Around the Home" was a
newspaper tabloid (abouf 30 pages) of tips for ecological living in your
home and neighborhood. Home Depot helped us distribute it, and las I saw
there were 500,000 of them out somewhere. "I can be an Environmental
Citizens" was a grade school workbook. "Environmental Citizenship for the
Middle School" aimed at, well, the middle school.
"Toward Environmental Citizenship" was a Florida reworking of the original
Environment Canada EC material.
Some of this may still be on the DEP website (www.dep.state.fl.us) under
environmental education, but they're not doing much EE there (or anything
else, much) anymore.
All of it should still be avalable from Teri Valente in my old office. The
address is below, down a message or two, I think.
