Please, please, please, everyone, log onto this website and send a
letter to US President Bill Clinton about the Arctic National Wildlife
Refuge, the Gwich'in and Inuvialuit people of Alaska and CAnada, and the
all-important caribou calving grounds for the Porcupine caribou. This is
so important now that Bush has been declared US president. Among his
backers are the gas and oil industry, who want to "develop" (i.e., ruin)
this region. The website also has some great pics and music.
Thanks,
jf

Wilderness is the raw material out of which man has hammered the
artifact called civilisation. Wilderness was never a homogeneous raw
material. It was very diverse, and the resulting artifacts are very
diverse. These differences in the end product are known as cultures. The
rich diversity of the world's cultures reflects a corresponding
diversity in the wilds that gave them birth.
