Sorry. The metaphor just is not good enough. Just because something is new
does not elevate it to the ranks of acceptablity. Lemmings do not commit
suicide. That is a myth as we all know...
Secondly, the metaphor of the hare or rabbit being frozen in the spotlight
is also not interchangelble with resistence to change. Lepus americana have
good night vision as do Cervidae. So what happens if you see a deer on the
road and you don't want to hit while driving a car?
You just dim your lights. This prevents the deer from being blinded by the
bright high beams. It can easily see what to do next. Oh and one other
thing. Brake as quickly as possible. I found driving with low beams to be a
panacea for deer and preventing collisions.
The ethical thing to do is to place 'cat eye' reflectors on the roadside.
That works really well too. We have an experiment here. Now that is an
example of resisting change that is positive.
