Dear all,
this course was announced on the bioacoustics-L list, and I thought,
somebody of you might be interested in it?!
Greetings, Ursula
Dear friends,
The Center for Sound Communication (CSC) announces a graduate summer
course in acoustic communication, August 16th to 25th, 2000 at USD
Odense University, Denmark.
The topic of the course is the methodological problems encountered when
studying sound communication in air (including the sonic, infra-sonic
and ultra-sonic ranges and air-currents), in water, and in solids with
special emphasis on equipment and methods used at CSC, such as laser
vibrometry and laser anemometry, psychophysical methods, and underwater
sound recording and localization. A part of the course will be held at
our marine biological field station where the students can work with the
sounds of captive harbor porpoises.
Lectures will be given by invited and resident experts, including H.
Römer (U. Graz, A), R. Dooling (U. Maryland, US), M. Leek (Walter Reed
Army MC, US), D. Helweg (SPAWARSYSCEN, US), and members of the CSC (A.
Michelsen, A. Surlykke, O.N. Larsen, L.A. Miller, B. Møhl, S. B.
Pedersen, J. Christensen-Dalsgaard, and J. Tougaard).
Fee: approximately 300 USD (including tuition, accomodation, and meals)
