The University of Hawaii College of Business Administration seeks a
visionary and innovative leader, researcher, scholar and educator to
occupy the Chair of the Distinguished Professor of Entrepreneurship,
Marketing, and Information Technology. The chair has been created by a
generous gift by two benefactors of the College who wish to remain
anonymous.
The Chairholder, who will hold a position in the Department of Marketing,
will serve as a leader and catalyst for research, instruction and
practical application of the latest developments and trends in the theory
and application of information technology to the marketing discipline,
particularly in the creation of new businesses and the adaptation of
existing firms to the emerging e-business environment. He or she will be
affiliated with the College's new Center for Entrepreneurship and E-
Business. The Chairholder will have special responsibility for the roles
of entrepreneurship, marketing and information technology in the
articulation of the College's two academic strategic thrusts,
international business and information technology, in an Asia Pacific
context. The Chairholder will serve as a resource, liaison and ambassador
to the business community and as a resource for the College's doctoral,
Executive MBA and executive development programs.
Minimum requirements are:
Doctorate in business or a related field from a college or
university of recognized standing.
Evidence of excellence in teaching.
Four years or more of full-time college or university teaching at
the rank of at least Associate Professor or equivalent with
evidence of increasing professional maturity.
Academic experience which has resulted in significant
recognition by the national or international community of
scholars and practitioners in the same field.
Desirable qualifications are:
Stature and reputation as a researcher and an educator, in a
discipline related to entrepreneurship, marketing and
information technology in the context of one or both of the
College's two academic strategic thrusts, international
business and information technology, in an Asia Pacific
setting.
Distinguished record of accomplishment in the theory and
application of information technology to the marketing
discipline, particularly in the creation of new businesses and
the adaptation of existing firms to the emerging e-business
environment.
Professional experience and the proven ability to work with and
provide expertise to community organizations.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Start Date: Academic Year 2001-2002.
Closing Date: Continuous recruitment until position is filled; first
