Invited Session on
Issues in Object and Component-Based Development
The Fifth Multi-Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics
http://www.iiis.org/sci/
Orlando, Florida, USA
July 22 - 25, 2001
The field of object-oriented (OO) development has progressed
considerably in the past decade. Major contributions have been achieved
in terms of theory, standardization and technological infrastructure.
The maturation of object-orientation has also led to the generation of
related approaches capable of being combined by the developer in the
quest for effective analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of
systems.
These approaches include patterns, frameworks and component-based
development (CBD). Whilst a natural relationship exists between these
and traditional OO, the state-of-the-art is relatively immature and a
number of research issues exist, related in particular to factoring
objects into larger structures.
With this in mind, the aim of the session is to bring together leading
researchers and industry experts to discuss problems, solutions and
experiences broadly within (but not limited to) the areas listed below:
· Architectures, frameworks and patterns
· Business and systems modeling
· Business cooperation and integration, supply-chain and workflow
management
· Case studies
· Development and evolution of business components
· Development methodologies
· Distributed systems
· Metamodeling
· Middleware technology
· Ontologies and semantics
· Programming
· Quality of object-oriented and component based systems
· State-of-the-art and future trends
· Systems integration
