Dear Andy,
No detailed knowledge handy, but the paradigmatic case is also one of the
earliest (in fact, the only privatisation promised (threatened!) in the 1979
Tory manifesto) -- the National Freight Corporation.
This is pretty well-documented; employee share ownership held on for an
exceptionally long time, if memory serves.
I used to be pretty up with this stuff in the late 80s, but no longer...
However, do come back if you'd like anything more.

The Post office have just announced that they intend to sell off, or seek
Joint Venture Partners for their support services. They intend to sell off
@49% of each group. Also they have announced that Employees and Management
can also bid for a slice of the cake. Does anyone have or know of access to
any data regarding similar "joint ventures" in other industries.I would be
particularly interested to hear from anyone who has had personal experience
of these Employee/Management schemes. i.e. the number of employees who still
have shares etc.
