This season's first poetry reading at the Café
>Balcony will take place on Sunday, February 20 at four pm. Our readers will
>be Jawad Ali and Mark Weiss.

>Jawad Ali is a poet/critic who co-edits Trepan, the CalArts art/literary
>journal. His work has also been published in the French literary magazine,
>Cargo. As a translator, he has translated poems of the Pakistani poet,
>Faiz Ahmed Faiz and the Indian (Mughal) poet, Ghalib.

>Currently based in San Diego, poet Mark Weiss has taught at Columbia
>University, Hunter College, University of Connecticut, University of
>Arizona, and UC San Diego. He has published two books of poetry: _Intimate
>Wilderness_ (1976) and _Fieldnotes_ (1995), and two chapbooks: _Letter to
>Maxine_(1974) and _A Block Print by Kuniyoshi_(1994). He is the editor and
>publisher of Junction Press.
