New Bloodaxe list Autumn 2000 - Spring 2001 arrived today. No signs of
MacSweeney (and what happened to his Apollinaire versions that Salt were
going to do?). A new Kinsella (The Hierarchy of Sheep, due out now) and a
bilingual book by the worthy (as I recall) French poet Gerard Macé (Wood
Asleep, March) . Nothing else of much interest. But plenty of greatness
and leadingness if you need it - "Russia's greatest living poet" for
instance, "one of the greatest poets of the 20th Century" "one of
Britains'leading poets" "one of America's most important poets". Poor old
Adrian Mitchell just gets labelled "one of Europe's bestselling poets"--
you'd think they could have spared a bit of leadingness for him, at least.
Also amounts of exclusive anthologising and surveying by Longley, Herbert
etc.
