London Artists Book Fair
The Curve +AFs-Ground Floor, Level 0+AF0-
Barbican Centre
London
3rd - 5th November 2000
There will be a strong Sheffield contingent at the London Artists Book fair
this year.
David and Christine Kennedy, exhibiting under the name UsandCo +AFs-Stand 42+AF0-,
will be
offering a small but interesting range of innovative poetries and artists
books by others as well as their own publications. David will have available
a new limited edition work entitled Cornell: A Circuition Around His
Circumambulation which offers meditations on Cornell's boxes and other art
connected with city walking. Each book work in the edition is made unique
through the use of lettering cut from early twentieth century maps of New
York which gives tantalising glimpses of the streets Cornell where walked
and browsed for material for his boxes.
Christine will also have a new book work on show entitled The Garden of
Hysteria. The book takes the form of a concertina with 3D photographic
pop-up grottoes of classical statuary. Also available will be Stephen
Vincent's excellent new pamphlet A Walk Toward Spicer, published by David
Kennedy's Cherry On The Top imprint, in deluxe and standard editions
featuring a colour photograph by the author.
Alan Halsey and Geraldine Monk, exhibiting as West House Books +AFs-Stand 43+AF0-,
will have a
range of essential publications available including Johan De Wit's
+AF8-Hippototescopo+AF8- , the best book of the year Martin Corless-Smith's+AF8-
Complete Travels+AF8- , as well as books by Kelvin Corcoran, Karen Mac Cormack,
David Annwn, David Rees and Gavin Selerie. West House Books is one of the
most interesting small presses currently in existence. Visit
http://www.cortlandreview.com/features/00/03/kennedy.html to read my review
of a recent West House volume Alan Halsey and Gavin Selerie's compelling
collaborative work +AF8- Days Of '49+AF8-. And visit John Tranter's excellent e-zine
Jacket at
http://www.jacket.zip.com.au/jacket12/corless-smith-by-kennedy.html to read
my review of Martin-Corless Smith's +AF8-Complete Travels+AF8- and find out why I
think it is the best book of the year.
Alan and Geraldine's own books, including two of my personal favourites
Geraldine Monk's +AF8-Interregnum+AF8- and Alan Halsey's +AF8-A Robin Hood Book+AF8-, will
also be available. Alan and Geraldine will also be giving unique
performances of their work on Friday and Saturday under the title Gargoyle
Largo.
Thanks for taking time to read this message.
See you there+ACE-
Cheers
David
