I have little doubt that Simon is correct. I looked at two
copies of Microsoft Outlook Express that had never been used, and
found that, as shipped, both had RichText=HTML selected as the
format for e-mail. The Format button that Simon mentioned is on
the top row of the 'New Message' window.
