The questioner didn't make it quite clear whether he was just
interested in modern singers (folk or popular) performing (relatively)
straight versions of traditional ballads.
If he was casting his net somewhat wider, may I point him towards
Richard Thompson's "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" from the "Rumor and
Sigh" album. Richard here takes the form and structure of a classic
ballad, uses some of the conventions and terminology of ballads ("Come
down, come down, Red Molly..."), but applies it to a couple of 1950
teenage tearaways rather than Lords and Ladies of High Degree. A
_very_ clever song, which shows intimate knowledge by the writer
of the form which he is using/(& partly) parodying.
