There's a relevant article by Helen Shenton on "The conservation of the Heal textile sample books at the Victoria and Albert Museum" in The paper conservator: journal of the Institute of Paper Conservation, vol 14 (1990).

Manchester Archives and Local Studies holds a considerable number of textile pattern books from calico printers, dating from the mid to late 1800s. Is anyone aware of any recent publications which consider preservation/conservation issues relating to pattern books?
I would be grateful to anyone who can point me in the right direction!
