Partington gives a very low equilibrium partial pressure of carbon dioxide
at 500 deg C. Decomposition must therefore be occurring (slowly!) at that
temperature. It is usual to "burn lime" at around 900-1000 deg C. where the
partial pressure is just above 760mm.
