At TNTU we do hand out certificates at our Graduation Ceremonies.
The certificates, for those students who have indicated that they intend to
be present, are sorted into the order of the programme in one securely
positioned pile. The graduands mount the stage, have their names read out by
their Head of Dept, shake hands with their Dean of Faculty, move along to be
presented with their certificate by the Registrar and before leaving the
stage, are handed a certificate tube by the Faculty Administrator. The stock
of tubes is stored off-stage in the wings with two admin staff keeping the
Faculty Administrator supplied with a steady flow of tubes. Another
Administrator is handing the correct certificate to the Registrar, taking
out the certificates for those students who have failed to turn up. A supply
of blank certificates is also on hand in case the students get out of order
or any other calamity occurs!
The certificates for those students who do not attend are posted after the
ceremony in hard backed envelopes.

Subject: GRADUATION CEREMONIES
It's one of *those* questions again .....
Until now, we have contrived *not* to give graduates
their degree diplomas at the ceremony, but are now
considering doing so.
For those of you who do so, any practical tips in
terms of the procedure at the ceremony?
F'rinstance:-
At what stage do you distribute them?
Who actually hands them over?
How do you keep X hundred scrolls in ceremony order,
without an explosion of tubes/envelopes?
*Do* use provide ubes, or envelopes?
etc etc
