Thanks for the email, glad to be of some use.
The 1988 Act covers pretty much all media/medium and applies equally whether
information is in printed or electronic form.
Various references in the Act make it fairly clear the Internet along with
databases, software etc., is covered. For example section 17 (2) on "Copying
in relation to literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work means
reproducing the work in any material form, This includes storing the work in
any medium by electronic means." Section 56 deals explicitly with certain
'works in electronic form' and 'electronic' is defined in Section 178.
However there have been few cases in the UK so it is not at all clear
exactly how a judge would interpret it. For example see the debate on the
Shetland Times case which was settled out of court. I attach a rough list of
