I would like to announce the launch of a new web site, UNDERGROUND
ARCHAEOLOGY, dedicated to underground topics. Although the site is not
listed as 'under construction' it is still very early days and only three
specific underground locations have so far been included.
The site is divided into 5 categories :
Mines & Quarries
Military (excluding cold war)
Cold War (including local authority bunkers)
Transport
Miscellaneous
So far you will find one entry under 'Mines & Quarries' and two entries
under 'Cold War'. I am hoping to add at least one new location per week and
more if I have the time. Initially I will try and keep to sites that are not
featured in on other web sites. Each location covered will include a brief
history and/or details of the underground structure as it is today. This
will include one or two photographs and a plan of the site if it is
available. There will also be a thumbnail gallery. Each picture in the text,
all the thumbnails, and the plans are clickable for a higher quality
version.
As I said, this site is in its early days so apologies for any mistakes and
any failed links. Any comments and constructive criticisms would be
gratefully received.
All the photographs are my own, as are the plans unless stated. Please feel
free to copy anything but I do own the copyright and would appreciate a
credit if anything is published elsewhere.
The address of the site is: www.swanley1.freeserve.co.uk/
