Sadly it would have had little direct association with the craft of
stonemasonary. Stone Men were miners who drove cross measures tunnels
through stone rather than coal, for example between seams or more likley in
the Durham Area ripping stone above the thin seams to produce roadways
suitable for removing the coal.
