I would think that this would be Staffordshire University. It was formerly
North Staffordshire Polytechnic which still had a department of mining
egineering uptil c.1989. The poly provided the full range of mining and
mining craft education from ONC to PHD, and provided a mining education
based almost exclusively in the coal industry. I believe that a number of
the departments staff still lecture at the University.
I studied for my degree there between 1983 and 1987 and can vouch for the
degree, it's managed to keep me gainfully employed in the mining indusrty
since (which is an achievemnet in this age!)
