I imagine "clipper-on" was someone who clipped a tub or train of
tubs onto a rope haulage.
I have seen this done. As the endless Haulage rope was running
continuously, I was scared to death just watching, I can tell you.
Every time it was done, it looked to be an accident waiting to happen.
A "taker-off" could have been the man at the other end of the rope
haulage, who had to unclip the tubs while they were in motion. Or it
could have been the man whose job it was to work with the onsetter/
banksman, and take tubs out of the cages.
Both would have been full-time jobs.
